Gods: They worship one god, Allah. They worship the same god Christians and Jews worship.
Where it began: On the Arabian Peninsula in Mecca and Medina.
Where it is practiced today: Mostly in Africa, Middle East, and Asia.
Main beliefs of Islam: Five Pillars of Faith and Six Articles of Faith.
Five Pillars of Faith: Testimony of faith, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage are the Five Pillars of Faith.
Six Articles of Faith: Allah, who is god, angels, scripture,prophets, afterlife, and divine creed are the Six Articles of Faith.
Sacred writings: The most sacred writing is the Quran, which is believed to be literal word of god as revealed to Muhammad. The Hadith is the secondary text of the Islamic religion, made up of sayings by Muhammad and his followers.
Practices of Islam: They fast during Ramadan, and take the trip to Mecca at least once in their life. Islamic people pray about five times a day, and many have shrines or mosques in their house's. They all also follow the Five Pillars of Faith.
How Islam's pray: They use different postures as they pray, switching from standing, kneeling, and sitting.
Religious festivals: Ramadan is when Islamic people fast for one month. It takes place on the ninth month of the Islamic festival. Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca, which takes place at the end of Ramadan.
Symbols: The star and cresent moon, are thought of as the Islamic symbol. However, some historians do not think this is true.
